I feel like we’re not at a place in society yet to joke about transphobic humor ‘cause 95% of the population still thinks it’s totally acceptable, so [Glee’s] transphobic jokes aren’t edgy, they’re just really irresponsible.

Yes, and even if they put them in the mouth of a character the audience is not supposed to like, or have another character counter them, putting in so many (like they did in the one Sue scene) and having them being carefully written turns of phrases that play on puns and pop culture references and thus trying to be funny in and of themselves, it is problematic.
